To make ends meet, and to afford a coffee before class, I teach piano. This means that I occasionally I get to bear witness to some of the most amazing little gems that my students say completely in passing without regard to the implications of their intuitions. The most recent little gem happened last night when one of my students said the following when asked if they had practised a certain song this week:

"Yep. And I remember it with my brain."

I do believe I have a young Identity Theorist on my hands.

P.S. They totally got a sticker (or two) for saying that.
